I wasn't going to answer this as i am not a Emo but considering no one else gave a proper answer i guess i'll try for ten points.

You'll need shorter hair maybe about down to your chin and some of that dry-looking, hard-sticking gel that is advertise with people with bizarre hair styles. and basically all you do is straighten one side of your hair and the front so it covers half your face and mess up the other side and back, this looks more or less like you just got up but more neater. It is easier if one side of your hair and the back is cut shorter (the side that gets messed up). You'll get some better answers in the fashion section of Y!A.

If you go to a hair dressers they will be able to make a Emo looking hair cut for you and all you have to do is maintain it, i think they will show you a catalog or something (i haven't been to one for like 2-3 years and have quite long hair)

First you find a good friend and have them smack you untill you cry...

When you have cried enough tears to wet your hands, you take both hands in migraine headache style and brush them through your hair, part to one side...cover your eye...this is so emo.

Wave your arms like each one is trying to fly in an opposite direction achieving the traditional wave...and you now have become emo.

That all depends on if you plan on cutting it or not.

If yes, then you could always go with the typical long-in-front-short-in-back spikey style.

If you don't want to cut it, however, that's another story.

Just ask your stylist for a heavy side bang with choppy layers. If you're going to dye it, I suggest bleach bright blonde with some random colored chunks. Or, you could always do it black with random bleach bright blonde chunks and/or streaks.

my hair is rlly short, in the front, it's just below my ears and the back is short enough to be able to spike it. you could do something like that... or you could get it cut a little with a lot of choppy layers and side bangs and tease it.
